2003 Vintage

Pinot Noir - Kanzler Vineyard Sonoma Coast

Download Fact Sheet

One thing is for sure, Kanzler Vineyard has a distinct terroir and produces fruit of exceptional quality. Our 2003 Kanzler Vineyard Pinot Noir is exotic to say the least. This wine is deep, complex and bursting with intense flavors and aromatics. The vineyard is located just south of Bodega Highway in the Petaluma Land Gap, which is a very cool sight a few miles east of the Pacific Ocean. The Kanzler Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of clones 667, 115 and Pommard and was aged in 100% French oak barrels-41% new oak-for 17 months. While you may be tempted to drink this now, and it is drinking well, it will continue to significantly improved and drink well over the next 5-10 years.

Aromatics

Profiles of blackberry, black cherry and rose petal supported by a rich, bold core of dark stone fruit and cedar.

On The Palate

Bold blackberry and cherry are prominent with undertones of sweet spice, leather and cedar. A bold Pinot Noir, the Kanzler Vineyard exudes stunning depth, which lingers throughout the long finish. The dark fruit quality prevails, complimented with sweet oak, chocolate and floral notes, making this wine extremely complex and layered.
