2003 Vintage
Pinot Noir - Koplen Vineyard Russian River Valley
The Koplen Vineyard is located on Olivet Road in the middle of the Russian River Valley and is planted entirely to clone 667. The vineyard is meticulously farmed and managed by Dennis and Lynn Koplen who refer to the vines as their girls. To say Dennis is passionate about the care and farming of this vineyard would be an understatement. In addition to being a Single Vineyard designate, the Koplen Vineyard is a large part of our Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
Aromatics
Deep raspberry, blackberry and exotic perfume. Ripe strawberry and fig preserves are heightened by dark cherry and orange peel.
On The Palate
Blackberry, black cherry, ripe raspberry and smoky tea notes followed by dried rose petals, cocoa and an endless finish of baker's cocoa and dried cherry. Impeccably balanced throughout with deep structure, fine tannins and precise focus. This outstanding wine was aged in 100% French oak barrels, 1/2 of which was new oak. Like the Russian River Pinot Noir, this should continue to evolve and drink well over the next 5-7 years.
