Pinot Noir - Koplen Vineyard Russian River Valley
Download Fact Sheet
The Koplen Vineyard is owned, managed and farmed by Dennis and Lynn Koplen who have a passion and a feel for how to grow Pinot Noir. In fact, Dennis refers to the vines as his girls and tends to each vine as if they were one of his kids. The Koplen's 5-acre vineyard is located off Olivet Road in the middle of the Russian River Valley. The vineyard is planted exclusively to Dijon clone 667, which gives the wine deep structure and a dark fruit profile. The wine was aged for 17 months in French oak (44% new oak).
Cherry and blackberry accented with hints of vanilla and cocoa.
On The Palate
Boasting ripe berry flavor, the Koplen vineyard is a complex and deep Pinot Noir, showing the fruit-forward nature of the middle reach of the Russian River Valley appellation. Baking spices accompany the black cherry, raspberry and blackberry. This wine evolves wonderfully in the glass now but will benefit from a couple of years of cellar time and drink well for 3-5 years beyond that. Enjoy.
