2003 Vintage

Pinot Noir - Santa Lucia Highlands

Download Fact Sheet

Our 2003 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir was our first ever release of Pinot Noir outside the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast appellations. The grapes came from the Cloninger Vineyard which is at the northern end of the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County. This wine is deeply flavored and is comprised of two clones: 667 and 115. It also saw approximately 45% new oak.

Aromatics

Deep bouquet of orange peel, cherries, and five-spice is supported by hints of ginger, strawberry and plum.

On The Palate

This luscious mouth-filling wine is deeply structured with supple tannins centered in the mid-palate. Penetrating flavors of strawberry and cherry dominate with undertones of nutmeg, bay leaf and a clean, cranberry finish. The deep structure and concentrated flavors suggest this wine should continue to drink well over the next 3-5 years. Enjoy!
