Shane Finley

Shane Finley is the Associate Winemaker for Kosta Browne.

Having joined the team in 2006, he has worked in a variety of different winemaking settings.

After receiving a B.A. in English from the Virginia Military Institute, Shane headed to New York City to take a corporate insurance position. It was in New York that he realized his passion for wine. The passion was so strong that in the summer of 2001, he moved out to California to work as a harvest intern with Copain Wines.

Following the 2001 harvest, Shane traveled to Australia to work the 2002 harvest with Torbreck Vintners in the Barossa Valley. From there, he continued his globe-trotting and spent one year in France's Northern Rhone working for Pierre Gaillard in his Cote Rotie, Condrieu and Saint Joseph vineyards. In addition to the Northern Rhone, Shane spent a considerable amount of time in the Roussillon helping Pierre open his new domaine in Banyuls-sur-Mer.

Shane returned to California in the summer of 2003 and resumed working for Copain as their custom crush Cellar Master. In this capacity, he not only supported Copain Wines, but also wineries such as DuMol, Carlisle, Pisoni Estate, and Deerfield (with Winemaker Michael Browne).

In January 2005, Shane accepted the Assistant Winemaker post at Paul Hobbs winery. He was responsible for all facets of winemaking and became well versed in the production of high-end, small lot wines.
